Old Magic is about a girl who lives with her grandma. They are both witches in a long history of witches family. One day, a new boy comes to Kate's school. He is automatically hated by the popular crowd which sends off weird vibes from him to Kate. Kate thinks that the boy, Jarrod, might be a witch like Kate and her grandma! She tries to ask Jarrod some questions, but freaks him out with her magic talk. He then becomes friends with the popular crowd and doesn't talk to Kate again, although she is still mesmerized by his good looks and strange vibes. So, once again she corners him, but something bad happens to Jarrod's brother while he's at Kate's house talking about the family history book his father made. What happened to Jarrod's little brother? Is his family history jam packed with witches and wizards like Kate's, or will she just freak him out someone and ruin her chance to ever be noticed at her high school?
