Summer Reading!

Are you bored out of your mind this summer? Well, read a book to take that vacation you can't afford this year!! Here are some great teen reads you should catch up on since you've read all of the new hit popular ones (which rachied still has to read since she's been catching up on the non popular ones :D )

Title: Bright Young Things
Author: Anna Godbersen
Rachied Rating: 3 stars
Now that The Luxe series is over Ms. Godbersen thought she should write another historical book. This one is about three girls, Letty, Cordelia, and Astrid, living in 1929 right before The Great Depression. Letty and Cordelia are best friends, and have been since they were little bitty. They decide to go on a train all the way to New York City in order for Letty to pursue her dreams as a singer, and Cordelia to find her long lost father. Astrid on the other hand is a famous young lady who is rich and famous. Her life consists of breaking all the young men hearts in New York. Can these girls live up to their dreams, or will they come crashing down with them? Find out by reading Bright Young Things!

Title: Matched
Author: Alyson Condie
Rachied Rating: 4 Stars
you may have already read Matched, it is very popular with the teen reads these couple of months. In fact!! I think Disney, or some other company, has already signed on to make Matched a movie! Anyways, Matched is about a society in the future where you are set up with everything. And I do mean everything! The job, your schedule, your soul mate, your death, your house, EVERYTHING! Then of course there's that one person who goes and falls in love with the wrong person and ends up causing a mad chaos for the whole town. Blah, blah, blah. I've read it before. The only reason why this book has four stars is because the technology in the book sounds super cool, and I like the guy the girl was suppose to fall in love with. The end. Boring. When the movie comes out I'm getting it on DVD. However, I will read the second one because I'm cool like that.

My Little Phony

Title: My Little Phony
Author: Lisi Harrison
Rachied Rating: 3 stars
Eh, this was an okay Clique book. It starts off with Massie wishing her crush on ninth-grader Landon will finally develop into somethings more, but sadly Landon gets sick and hasn't seen Massie in forever. PLUS! Massie is going to get told something that will change her life... FOREVER! Then, Alicia isn't allowed to shop, and if she does she won't be allowed to visit her home town for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Dylan has gotten denied on her Visa card more times then Charlie Sheen has been reported in the news recently. Will she get it fixed? Kristen is finally starting to get mad that she is the only broke member of the Pretty Committee, but she doesn't know that soon she won't be the only one buying clothes from TJ Max. Finally, Claire is ready to get back at Massie for all of the mean things she has done to her and her now ex-model friends. Let's just say that this type of revenge will get a little buggy in here.

Read My Little Phony, the second to last Clique book in the series, and don't be a phony by saying you've read it, because everyone will know.

Old Magic is Magic!!

Title: Old Magic
Author: Marianne Curely
Rachied Rating: 5 stars!

Old Magic is about a girl who lives with her grandma. They are both witches in a long history of witches family. One day, a new boy comes to Kate's school. He is automatically hated by the popular crowd which sends off weird vibes from him to Kate. Kate thinks that the boy, Jarrod, might be a witch like Kate and her grandma! She tries to ask Jarrod some questions, but freaks him out with her magic talk. He then becomes friends with the popular crowd and doesn't talk to Kate again, although she is still mesmerized by his good looks and strange vibes. So, once again she corners him, but something bad happens to Jarrod's brother while he's at Kate's house talking about the family history book his father made. What happened to Jarrod's little brother? Is his family history jam packed with witches and wizards like Kate's, or will she just freak him out someone and ruin her chance to ever be noticed at her high school? Find out why the book, Old Magic, is now one of Rachied's new favorite books today by reading it, you definitely won't regret it!

Mortal Instruments Series

One of my lasts posts was about the first book in the Mortal Instruments Series. Well, I've finished the second and third book in the series. Let me say that this series is amazing!

Title: City of Ashes
Author: Cassandra Clare
Rachied Rating: Five Stars!
I loved the second book in the Mortal Instruments Series! It was incredibly better than the first book in the series! The second book in the series is after Clary finds out that Jace and her are brother and sister. Simon is the only thing that is making Clary happy right now, so they start to date, and that does not go well for Clary and Jace, since they still might have feelings for each other? Simon tries to protect Clary, and then, well, bad things happen to him, that's all I can say. The battle between Valentine and the Clave continues as he tries to find the second Instrument. Read the second book in the Mortal Instruments Series to become a fan, just like rachied!

Title: City of Glass
Author: Cassandra Clare
Rachied Rating: FIVE STARS!!
This is the best book in the Mortal Instruments Series! It was INCREDIBLE!! The ending was fantastic, and even though it was slow in the beginning of the book, it took a twist for the right direction and made me fall in love with the book. I don't care if you think the beginning is boring and you're going to put down the book, just keep reading because I had those feelings too about this book. I won't say anything else, just please, please, please, please read this book!!! :D

Hope you enjoy the two additions to the Mortal Instruments Series, I know I did. Oh, and Cassandra Clare has released information about the fourth book in the series too, called City of Fallen Angels. Cassandra also has another book out that has nothing to do with the Mortal Instruments Series, Clockwork Angel. I will be reading both of these books as well, so stay tuned for their ratings!! Thank you for catching up with my ratings on books, oh and please follow me with your Google account if you have one, and if not, well make one!

Classic Spring Reading

Here are some books that you should read over the spring time.

Title: To Kill a Mockingbird
Author: Harper Lee
Rachied Rating: 5 Stars!
This book is one of my new favorites, and it's a classic! Harper Lee writes a story about two young kids, Jem and Scout, growing up in the south. Jem is the older brother of Scout and he tries to protect the curious little sister he has from the hard times in their little town. Meanwhile, their father, Atticus is dealing with a court case about a black man raping a young white woman, and since it is in the past, we all know that this is a lie. Read To Kill a Mockingbird to explore the south in the early 1900s and be a curios kid growing up again!

Title: Death Be Not Proud
Author: John Gunther
Rachied Rating: One Star, yes one star.
Death Be Not Proud is a true story written by the father of a son who developed a brain tumor his last year of high school. The dad freaks out, the mom does too, the kid goes in and out of the hospital. People claim that it is a classic, but it totally is not as good as any other classic I've read. Just, take my advice, and don't read it.

Title: Of Mice and Men
Author: John Steinbeck
Rachied Rating: Three stars
Waaay better than Death Be Not Proud,, but still not as good as To Kill a Mockingbird. Of Mice and Men is about two middle aged men going around northern California in search of jobs. One of the men is mentally disabled and has a problem with not following any rules at all. The other is a ladies man who could care less about everyone else except money and chicks. Most people might disagree with me, but I think the ending of this book was the best part and pulled my rating up over the two star mark.

Title: Romeo and Juliet
Author: William Shakespeare
Rachied Rating: Three Stars
Most people claim the Romeo and Juliet is the classic to all classics, but personally, I could care a whole lot less if it was a classic or not. We pretty much all know how the story goes, and if not, well, then you are lucky that you don't. This is a play written by William Shakespeare that I think everyone loves except for me. Romeo is a big fat cry baby that just wants everything his way, and Juliet is too young and naive to get that he really doesn't love her and that he just loves the idea of being in love with someone. I will tell you not to read it unless you really have to for school or something.

All in all, the winner of Spring Reads is To Kill a Mockingbird, so read it before Spring ends to find your inner child of the Spring.
